Last year I shared my first newsletter with an excitement to write regularly. And well… that did not happen. I could list 100 excuses, but I won’t.
I realized that I had made this too difficult for myself. I enjoy writing, but often it is a wrestling match to get the right combination of words down on the page (screen). I was overthinking and overstretched so after many failed drafts of other essays, I gave up. I also tend to edit while writing. And that’s a no-no.
So, in the spirit of keeping things simple and sharing more often, let me start easy with 10 things I have made or can’t stop thinking about:
Started reading Effortless by Matt McKeown. It’s taught me to look at every situation or decision and ask myself “how can I make this easier?”
Working on a series called Obelus. (pictured above)
Can’t stop eyeing this beautiful chess set by Nymzo.
After creating countless brand guidelines over the years, I’ve made a 100 page template that simplifies and speeds up the process of building them. Take 30% off using code SUB30.
A lot of recent talk on the public domain. If you like archives and haven’t checked out Public Works by Cosmos, you should. Such a satisfying way to explore content on the web.
Web tools are slowly replacing my desktop tools. (I could elaborate, but that’s for another day. Remember: keeping this easy.) I made this 3D animation using Endless.
I haven’t done this before, but I decided to center this year around a particular word — flow. Flow is about being. It’s being confident in moving forward and around resistance. What is your word for 2025?
I got a Nespresso for Christmas and I absolutely love it.
Ending on a positive note, here are some logos I designed last year that didn’t make the cut.
Here’s to more of these this year.
